What does a custom t-shirt cost at 12, 24, 48 and 144 pieces?

A custom screen-printed t-shirt costs between $18.55 and $29.26 per shirt at 12 pieces, and between $9.89 and $20.59 at 144 pieces, depending on which blank you print. Those are our live published prices, not estimates, and the table below lists them per style at every quantity. Most of this industry makes you fill in a form to find this out. We publish it, so here it is with the arithmetic that actually matters: where the price breaks fall, why the first one is worth so much more than the rest, and when ordering more stops being worth it.

What does a custom t-shirt cost at 12, 24, 48 and 144 pieces?

Six tees we stock, priced per shirt with one screen-printed logo included. At 12 pieces the range is $18.55 to $29.26. At 144 it is $9.89 to $20.59. The cheapest option at every quantity is the Next Level Cotton Tee, and the most expensive is the AS Colour Heavy Tee, which is a 6.1 oz heavyweight rather than a standard-weight blank.

Why is a 12-piece order so expensive per shirt?

Because almost none of that price is the shirt. At 12 pieces you are paying to set up a print run and then spreading that setup across a dozen garments. The blank itself is a small and fairly stable part of the number. The decoration is the part that moves.

You can see it in our own prices. Going from 12 pieces to 24 takes $5.50 per shirt off every single style in the table above, whether the shirt is a $9 Next Level or a $46 AS Colour hoodie. The saving is identical in dollars because it has nothing to do with the garment. That is the clearest evidence we can give you that small-run pricing is a setup problem, not a fabric problem.

Should I order more shirts to hit a price break?

Going from 12 to 24 is almost always worth it. Take the Bella+Canvas Jersey Tee. Twelve shirts costs $237.00 all in. Twenty-four costs $342.00. You pay 44% more money and get 100% more shirts, and the per-shirt price falls from $19.75 to $14.25.

After that it flattens fast. The step from 24 to 48 only saves about 41 cents a shirt on that same tee. The next real move is at 144, where it drops to $11.09. So the practical advice is to order 24 even if you only need 12, bank the extras for new hires, and then do not chase another break until you genuinely need more than a hundred shirts.

Every style we produce carries a 12-piece minimum, so 12 is the floor rather than a discount tier.

Does the volume discount depend on which shirt I pick?

Yes, and more than people expect. Because the saving is a flat dollar amount, it is a much bigger percentage of a cheap garment than an expensive one.

Going from 12 pieces to 144, the Next Level Cotton Tee falls about 47%, from $18.55 to $9.89. The AS Colour Heavy Tee over the same jump falls about 30%, from $29.26 to $20.59. Push into heavier garments and it compresses further: a District Perfect Weight Fleece Hoodie falls about 25% and an AS Colour Relax Hood about 19%.

The practical read is that volume is the lever on basic tees and barely a lever on premium outerwear. If you are buying hoodies, pick the hoodie you actually want rather than ordering extra to chase a discount that is not really there.

Why is the price on the category page lower than the price I get quoted?

Because the price on a category card is the best-volume price. It is the cheapest decoration method at the highest quantity tier, which is a useful way to compare styles against each other and a misleading way to budget a 12-piece order.

The Bella+Canvas Jersey Tee shows $10.09 on a category card. That is the 1,000-piece price. At 12 pieces the same shirt is $19.75. Both numbers are real and both are on the product page. Open the style you want, pick your quantity in the pricing grid, and read the number there.

What is not included in these prices?

Three things. Shipping is quoted separately and is not built into the per-piece price. A second print location adds a per-piece cost, so a front-and-back design is not the same price as a left chest. And extended sizes carry the upcharge the blank manufacturer sets, which varies by style.

Embroidery is priced differently from screen printing and has its own ladder on each product page, including a one-off digitising charge for turning your logo into a stitch file. If you are comparing a printed tee with an embroidered polo, compare the grids on both product pages rather than assuming the gap holds at every quantity.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a custom t-shirt cost?
Between $18.55 and $29.26 per shirt at 12 pieces with one screen-printed logo included, and between $9.89 and $20.59 at 144 pieces, depending on the blank. A standard Bella+Canvas Jersey Tee is $19.75 at 12 and $11.09 at 144.
Do custom shirts get cheaper if I order more?
Yes, and the biggest single saving is the first step. Going from 12 pieces to 24 takes $5.50 per shirt off every style we carry. After that the curve flattens: 24 to 48 saves about 40 cents a shirt, and the next meaningful break is at 144.
What is the minimum order for custom t-shirts?
Twelve pieces per style. If an order lands under 12 on a given style at close, we round it up to the minimum and the extras go to your office as spares for new hires.
Why is a small order of custom shirts so expensive per shirt?
Because you are spreading a fixed print setup across fewer garments. The blank is a small part of the price at low quantities. The proof is that the saving from 12 to 24 pieces is the same $5.50 on a $9 tee as on a $46 hoodie, so it is a setup cost rather than a fabric cost.
Is it worth ordering 24 shirts instead of 12?
Almost always. On a Bella+Canvas Jersey Tee, 12 shirts is $237.00 and 24 is $342.00. You pay 44% more and receive twice as many shirts, and the per-shirt price falls from $19.75 to $14.25.
